2019 Jeep Cherokee

The 2019 Jeep® Cherokee brings a long list of changes to the family crossover segment. The new model boasts a stylish design for a more premium look that brings it in line with the rest of the Jeep® lineup. The new Jeep® Cherokee continues to offer the versatility, reliability, and capability that the off-road brand is known for.

The 2019 Jeep® Cherokee is available in six trims: Latitude, Latitude Plus, Limited, Trailhawk®, Overland, and Trailhawk® Elite. You can get any trim with FWD or 4×4, except for the Trailhawk models, which are exclusively available with 4×4.

Powertrains and Performance

The 2019 Jeep® Cherokee can be powered by one of three performance-oriented engines. The 2.4-liter Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 engine cranks out 180 horsepower, delivers 170 lb-ft of torque, and enables towing up to 2,000 pounds. For more power, go with the 3.2-liter Pentastar® V6 engine, which serves up 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque and enables towing up to 4,500 pounds. The new 2.0-liter turbo engine creates 270 horsepower, generates 295 lb-ft of torque, and enables towing up to 4,000 pounds.

Exterior

A mid-cycle refresh endows the Cherokee with a poised and clean-cut appearance. A more traditional headlight and driving light design replace the previous model year’s split-lighting style. Modified LED headlamps and fog lamps lend a more aggressive vibe to the model’s exterior.

The revamped Cherokee includes updates to the back, as well. LED accents enhance the vehicle’s visibility on the road. The tailgate itself now bolsters the license plate. Cherokee Overland trims feature chrome tow hooks that signify the crossover’s capability.

Interior Design

For an off-road-ready vehicle, the 2019 Jeep® Cherokee is surprisingly elegant, with optional leather and an available memory system. Other available features include the Alpine® Premium Sound System, heated and ventilated front seats, and the CommandView® Dual-Pane Panoramic Sunroof. The interior is also technologically advanced, with the Uconnect® infotainment system with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. This system boasts either a 7- or 8.4-inch touchscreen.

Safety

Jeep® prioritizes safety in the 2019 Cherokee with eight standard airbags, the Rear Back Up Camera, and a body structure made of high-strength steel. More important, however, are the available active safety features, all of which work together to help prevent accidents from happening. These technologies include Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path Detection, LaneSense® Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, and Full-Speed Collision Warning. To simplify parking, the Cherokee is available with the ParkSense® Front and Rear Park System and Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist.

Trailhawk

The off-road Trailhawk® trim sees an upgrade to red hooks for a more stylish look without sacrificing performance. A new front bumper offers an increased approach angle. Skid plates protect vital components from obstacles when off-roading. Athletic 17-inch wheels and fender flares show off the uncompromising styling of the Jeep® Cherokee. These changes result in a higher ride height perfect for tackling rocky trails with tall obstacles.

Engine

The refreshed 2019 Jeep® Cherokee includes an all-new engine. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine packs a lightweight design and stop-start technology for improved efficiency. Like the 2.4-liter and V6 engines, the new turbocharged powertrain comes mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The turbocharged engine generates an impressive 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Drivers have their choice between front- and four-wheel drive in the Jeep® Cherokee, depending on traction preferences.
